The Situation

This privately held multi-million dollar global retailer was beginning to experience the complexities associated with global multi-channel growth, within a company that has built a strong domestic culture over the past 75 years.

The Challenge

They were looking to transition their human resources management and emphasize the role of marketing. The CEO was aware that a change was necessary, but because the company is family managed, he had strong loyalties to the current team. He considered them family.

The Solution

Members of the E.A. Hughes apparel executive search team are global citizens of the industries we serve. Because the client’s global footprint was recent in the company history, we recommended focusing on HR and marketing candidates with vast global experience, not necessarily from the retail apparel industry. The caveat was that all candidates exhibit sensitivity to the company’s culture.

The Result

Ultimately we recruited their new SVP HR from a global financial company and their SVP Marketing from a global wholesale/retail fashion company.
